Technology is constantly evolving in today’s retail landscape, with brick-and-mortar following closely behind the trends. Incorporating things such as augmented reality (AR) or artificial intelligence (AI) into brick-and-mortar retail stores will allow these popular technology advancements to grow even larger.
Despite the popular belief that e-commerce platforms are the preferred way to shop, approximately 91% of all retail sales are transacted in a brick-and-mortar location. And by 2025, 80% of all retail sales will still take place in physical stores, said an article published in Forbes.
That being said, for technology in the retail space to continue to develop and expand, there needs to be a brick and mortar infrastructure incorporated. This will bring the most awareness to tech advancements and will also allow users to test things out in-person.
A prime example of this is Perfect Corp., a beauty tech solutions provider. The brand recently received a silver award in the 33rd annual Edison Awards, recognizing their advancements in AR and AI technologies.
Perfect Corp. is known for its key innovations in the AI and AR tech beauty industry. They have created a hyper-realistic experience for consumers to virtually try on makeup and skincare products through an app called YouCam Makeup.
YouCam’s AI capabilities give personalized recommendations to users such as foundation shades and lipstick colors through their mobile app and in retail stores. Their solutions are transforming consumers’ in-store beauty shopping experience, making it overall more engaged and personalized.
“Recent advancements in smart AI beauty tech and strategic application to real-life retail experiences have helped us master the demand for a personalized and engaged consumer shopping journey,” said Alice Chang, Perfect Corp. Chief Executive Officer.
Earlier this year, Perfect Corp. partnered with Sally Beauty Holdings, Inc. to create a custom virtual hair color try-on experience called ColorView. The ColorView AI experience was launched in-store across Sally Beauty’s all over the US. The virtual try-on experience allows customers to experiment with hair colors before they purchase them.
“This unique in-store integration is changing the way beauty lovers shop for hair color by creating a personalized tool for customers to feel confident in their purchase decision through true-to-life, try-before-you-buy beauty AI technology,” shared Chang.
