Charming Charlie, an apparel and accessories retailer, has announced their plans to make big waves in the industry in 2021. The retailer is back in business after filing for bankruptcy and closing all of their stores 18 months ago. Charming Charlie’s official comeback started in September when they opened their first store under new ownership in Atlanta.
Since then, the company has opened five additional locations across the US – mainly in mall-based sites. Charming Charlie’s new ownership is planning to open as many as 25 stores annually, with 50-75 total stores in their physical footprint. However, this initiative will be different than their previous growth plans. The company is adapting smaller-format stores, a common trend in retail right now, and will also utilize pop-ups.
Charming Charlie founder, Charlie Chanaratsopon, is being “very methodical” with his approach to opening mall-based brick-and-mortar stores.
“We want to continue to serve our customers, and are pinpointing brand-loyal markets to help direct where we open stores,” Chanaratsopon said.
“Our goal is to continue to be the same customer-facing company. That commitment has always been there,” Chanaratsopon added.
