Consumer demand pushes retail to Omnichannel, increasing inventory transparency across B&M

Retailers must optimize their brands in order to stay top-of-mind. When it comes to supply chain, elevating capabilities will better serve the needs of consumers while increasing efficiencies, reducing costs, and improving overall experience.

According to the 2020 Supply Chain Survey of U.S. retailers survey from enVista, the top three challenges consumers have noticed in supply chain management include: 

  • Increased e-commerce demand with store demand
  • Demand planning and forecasting
  • Improving efficiencies

The survey also concluded that 67% of consumers said that inventory visibility across stores, online and mobile is an important service to offer. Consumers want the convenience of an omnichannel approach – being able to have easy access to products from anywhere at any time. These capabilities have become an essential part of enhancing supply chains.

The pandemic has disrupted traditional retail, but also shaped it for the better. If these changes didn’t happen now, they would’ve eventually. Being a successful retailer today heavily relies on their potential to adapt. By increasing the use of inventory transparency across brick-and-mortar retail using an omnichannel approach, this will allow retailers to stay ahead in the industry and meet ever-changing consumer demands.
