Just two years after launching their e-commerce site, HomeGoods has decided to abruptly close their online website on October. The discount home decor chain has announced this decision via email to customers.
With the closing of their e-commerce site, HomeGoods plans to focus solely on their physical portfolio to strengthen their brick-and-mortar presence as a whole.
“We’ve made the decision to focus our resources on our brick-and-mortar stores,” the email message said, while adding that it would be announcing “many new store openings.”
This news comes as no surprise – especially with the frictions of e-commerce and the fact that online sales represent a very small portion of the company’s profits.
TJX stores continuously pride themselves on their in-store experience and the “treasure hunt” they provide for shoppers. This is something that simply can’t be replicated online.
