“Despite the challenges of operating in a pandemic, we are seeing a terrific response from our customer base. They are purchasing for themselves and are very much into self-expression,” said Kecia Caffie, Senior Vice President and General Manager at Piercing Pagoda.
This expansion will mark 525 total locations for Piercing Pagoda across the country. Most Piercing Pagoda’s locations operate in malls, with a kiosk model that has proven to be successful for the retailer.
“Customers find our kiosks very approachable. And they work as theater in the round for our team members,” Caffie said.
Although Piercing Pagoda is commonly known for ear piercing, they offer other categories in the retail jewelry sector. The subset of Signet Jewelers offers merchandise such as gold chains, bracelets, rings, and earrings. Diamonds and chains have served as two of the fastest-growing departments for the retailer.
Since the pandemic started, Piercing Pagoda has committed to providing a safe and clean environment for consumers. Piercings are now scheduled by appointment only. Although it was a slow ramp-up post-lockdown, piercing percentages are now back where they should be, serving as a key part of the retailer’s overall sales numbers.
Piercing Pagoda plans to continue to expand and grow into next year as well. They will take advantage of future opportunities for the company as they see fit.
“We see Pagoda as a growth vehicle for the company,” Caffie said.
