Rue 21 to open 15 new stores in 2021, brick-and-mortar model drives brand discovery and customer acquisition

Rue 21 will open 15 stores in the remainder of 2021 as part of their previously announced growth plans. Five new locations will be opened ahead of the back-to-school season to capitalize on retail growth and brand discovery. 

In the midst of the pandemic, Rue 21 opened three brick-and-mortar stores last year, each of which outperformed expectations by over 50%, according to the company. In 2020 the company  landed significant double digit growth, spurring aggressive investments for both of their channels. 

The retailer is also known for their Gen Z apparel, and will expand their physical footprint based on customer demographics. Rue 21’s field team visits every location prior to the approval of opening each store. 

Rue 21’s brick-and-mortar model is crucial to their overall success as a company, and their in-store experience has continued to drive customer loyalty.

“Recent new store openings have demonstrated the importance of our store channel to brand discovery and customer acquisition. Our dynamic in-store experiences have driven customer loyalty and is our model for continued omnichannel growth,” said Bill Brand, Chief Executive Officer.
