SREG’s Golden Ticket Cinemas Deal at Rushmore Mall, and a Successful Grand Opening Partnership

Rushmore Mall welcomed Golden Ticket Cinemas with open arms! The luxury movie theatre opened at the mall in November 2019, occupying a long-term 23,500 SF vacancy. The SREG Marketing Team worked closely with John Bloemeke, President of Golden Ticket Cinemas, to host a grand opening event that would surely impress the community Rapid City, South Dakota.

Once this deal was closed, we knew we needed to create a marketing campaign to generate excitement within the public. Not only was it important to bring the community to the opening, but it was crucial to bring awareness to Golden Ticket and all its offerings. This was the first luxury movie theatre to open in Rapid City  and would be an asset to the entire community. Golden Ticket was known for providing a one-of-kind experience for movie goers, including:

  • A FULL food & beverage menu with dine-in options
  • Reserved seating
  • Electric reclining seats
  • Dolby 7.1 surround sound

Programming Highlights 

Our main tactic to generate awareness was our “Golden Ticket Mega Contest.” This contest was developed weeks before the opening to get the community involved. Our Marketing Team created an eye-catching and colorful 50-foot storefront barricade at the mall. This barricade featured hundreds of golden tickets on it. To enter the contest, community members had to visit the mall, guess the number of tickets on the barricade and text their guess to us.

Promotional strategy consisted of:

  • Digital media – generating 180,000 impressions
  • Local radio and print placement
  • On-site and on-air coverage by local media
  • Social Media – generating a reach of 51,000 and nearly 2,000 event responses

Promotional strategy consisted of a Facebook video content initiative, covering Golden Ticket construction, behind the the scenes, food & menu reviews, interviews and promos. Totaling combined video views over 30,000!

Our promotional strategy generated a lot of excitement and brought tons of community members to the mall on the day of opening. The event had an old Hollywood red carpet theme, and featured:

  • Live radio show with Rapid City NOW
  • Door greeters
  • The Mayor and Chamber of Commerce in attendence
  • Selfie station with customized frames and life-size popcorn bucket
  • An official ribbon cutting
