Starbucks has recently gained an opportunity with big potential — in the Empire State Building. The coffee giant announced that they signed a 23,000 SF lease in the skyscraper located in Midtown Manhattan. This space serves as huge potential for the brand, where they could expand the space into a high-concept store such as a Starbucks Reserve Roastery or Tasting Room.
Starbucks currently has a 1,500 SF location in the Empire State Building but will move to a temporary spot during renovations, until they can move to their new store.
In recent years Starbucks has expanded its roastery and tasting room concepts outside of its home base in Seattle. It started with bringing locations to Manhattan and Chicago.
There’s an array of possibilities for the Empire State Building location – such as offering food, alcohol, branded merchandise or even private dining areas.
Although there’s plenty of speculation about the potential of this space, Starbucks has not revealed any official plans yet. According to a spokesperson for Starbucks, the company is in the early stages of the redevelopment process and “does not have additional details to share at this time.”
