Tesla looks to expand brick-and-mortar footprint with service centers
Wednesday, Aug 26, 2020
Electric vehicle company Tesla is looking to open a significant amount of service centers across the northeastern part of the U.S. The company has been opening service centers since 2018, when the car brand started to become more popular. With the increase in demand, Tesla is hoping to expand their brick-and-mortar footprint to offer more for their consumers. In 2019, the company sold about 367,000 units, and in 2018 they sold 245,000 units worldwide.
Tesla’s President of Automotive, Jerome Guillen, wrote on LinkedIn that the company is looking to add more CRE professionals to their team to help them open service centers. Tesla’s latest venture serves as a huge opportunity for landlords and mall owners in the industry. A mixed-use and alternative-use approach to leasing spaces has become a common theme among leasing for enclosed malls. Tesla expanding their physical landscape in the mall space could serve as the key they need to take their company to the next level.
