Walgreens to partner with Adobe & Microsoft to create personalized omnichannel experiences

Walgreens recently announced their plans to team up with powerhouse tech brands, Microsoft and Adobe, to enhance their customer experience abilities and omnichannel offerings.

Walgreens Boot Alliance (WBA) originally partnered with Microsoft back in January 2019. Now, the leading pharmacy retailer plans to enhance that partnership one step further by onboarding Adobe and creating a cloud-based platform where consumers can gain access to the company’s retail businesses whenever they want.

The platform will use consumer-driven insights to bring more personalized and engaging experiences to customers in-store and online. Walgreens plans to launch an individually tailored prescription service for patients, and Boots will introduce a beauty experience to provide custom product recommendations for consumers.

“Capabilities to combine previously disparate customer data sets, including information from more than 100 million members of our loyalty programs, into more singular, unified view of the customer – powered by these modern technology platforms – will enable us to truly personalize our omnichannel healthcare and retail offerings. This digital magic coupled with the valued knowledge and quality of care provided by our pharmacists and team members is what allows us to best serve our customers,” said Vineet Mehra, Global Chief Marketing Officer for WBA.

The strategic partnership with Microsoft and Adobe will allow Walgreens to unlock insights on their consumers across multiple industries, including health, beauty and wellness. Through this initiative Walgreens can continue to provide unmatched experiences in brick-and-mortar retail, while also engaging with consumers in a new light through multiple channels.
