Warby Parker is no stranger to the brick-and-mortar world. In fact, the eyewear brand has focused on physical growth initiatives over the past few years, since converting to stores from a DTC model.
The company has opened 13 new stores in Q2, putting them on track to open 40 throughout 2023. Currently, Warby Parker owns and operates a total of 217 locations. Dave Gilboa, Co-Founder and Co-CEO, believes that the company can expand to at least 900 stores in the US. The company has continuously noted the value that stores provide to their customers.
Warby Parker’s retail channel had a 21.5% year-over-year increase during Q2, largely driven by the addition of 39 net new stores since Q2 of 2022. E-commerce revenue fell 5.3%.
Their brick-and-mortar growth has created a newfound focus and need for integrating eye exams into Warby Parker’s store models. The company currently has eye exam offerings in nearly 80% of its store fleet. This adds another component of value to their stores, increasing the average revenue per customer.
