[International Spotlight] Online sales decline as consumer behaviors shift, physical stores experiencing volume increase

Wednesday, Jun 30, 2021

Online sales from Irish companies decreased month-over-month from April to May of 2021. In-store shopping has just recently resumed fully for international retailers. With this, came a decline in online sales for clothing, footwear and textiles.

The physical retail sector has experienced high annual volume increases across the board – from clothing and footwear to furniture and lighting. The value of retail sales was also higher month-over-month.

As soon as brick-and-mortar retail returned to normal, international consumers found themselves returning to shops to visit in-person.

The US is following closely behind these international trends, as a post-pandemic era begins for retail. Brick-and-mortar is experiencing growth and prosperity, unlike anything the industry ahs experienced before.
