SYRACUSE, N.Y. – November 6, 2023 – As Spinoso Real Estate Group (SREG) continues to build their industry-leading Enclosed Mall Operating Platform, the company has announced that industry veteran Ben Brotzman has joined SREG’s senior leadership team as Director of Anchor Leasing. In his new role, Brotzman will be responsible for managing, developing and maintaining the relationships of national, regional, and local Anchor tenants across SREG’s portfolio. Additionally, he will work closely with the company’s leasing, development and construction functions to ensure maximum large-space inventory production.

Brotzman brings with him over 15 years of experience in the shopping center industry, including management and development of large-scale retail and big box real estate.

Prior to joining SREG, Brotzman most recently served as Director of Real Estate for Macy’s, Inc., where he was responsible for the oversight of all real estate holdings in the northeast and southeast regions of the United States as well as Puerto Rico. In this role, Brotzman was instrumental in identifying monetization opportunities in a dynamic real estate landscape. His ability to cultivate strong relationships with brokers, shopping center owners, and industry stakeholders has consistently translated into advantageous deals for Macy’s. Brotzman further optimized Macy’s real estate portfolio, pioneering innovative strategies that capitalized on emerging market trends. He aligned Macy’s physical footprint with evolving consumer preferences, ensuring the brand maintained its prominence in the competitive retail industry.

Prior to joining Macy’s, Brotzman was Vice President of Anchor Leasing and Development at Brookfield Properties Retail in Chicago, a role in which he led a team in the implementation of its development strategy. Notable accomplishments include negotiating anchor store leases, purchase and sale agreements, and private party entitlement consent agreements for the firm’s multi-billion-dollar development and redevelopment pipeline. Prior to this role, Brotzman designed and supported business improvements in the financial operations group at Brookfield Properties Retail where he oversaw the successful implementation of a fully integrated collections module and business intelligence reporting system.

Before joining Brookfield Properties Retail, Brotzman managed a team of accountants in financial operations at Simon Property Group. During his time there, he collaborated with treasury to develop and maintain the ACH payment program that provided tenant rent payments at a more rapid pace.
