SYRACUSE, NY – Spinoso Real Estate Group (“SREG”) is thrilled to welcome their 2021 Summer Intern Class.

SREG, a privately held Syracuse-based real estate firm that specializes in the management and leasing of large-scale enclosed shopping malls across the USA, recognizes its transformative role not only in the Commercial Real Estate Industry and Enclosed Mall space, but the uniquely privileged position it serves in the CNY community to help students and young professionals gain hands-on experience in the CRE industry.

“As a company when we sat down to outline parameters of the internship program,” said Camillo Spinoso, Senior Leasing & Business Development at SREG, and lead on the internship program, “We envisioned a program that heavily, and primarily, focused on creating an immensely valuable experience for soon-to-graduate students interested in Commercial Real Estate.”

The program was officially introduced in 2019. Interns work on a variety of tasks throughout the internship program, such as recruiting new tenants to occupy SREG’s portfolio of enclosed malls, corporate research and analysis projects. This is designed to give the company’s leasing team valuable insights into CRE and CMBS trends, retail and REIT activity, and market insights. Each assignment is carefully crafted to ensure that all students are benefiting and gaining real, valuable experience.

“The feedback we received from previous, graduating interns was beyond what we expected; the impact that the experience had on their academic and soon-to-be professional career we found out had had a huge impact. And we quickly realized that we had created something truly valuable,” Spinoso said.

Additionally, interns work with the Lease Administration Department to “on-board” new properties, a process that involves importing and setting up leases, accounting, processing rent and other various historical tenant data pieces that are placed into SREG’s management system.

“Each intern is essentially involved in every aspect of the core services we offer to our clients – hands-on experience that we believe very few interns have access to, until they land a job,” added Spinoso, “And we feel like the few months they’re with us equips them with real experience, and gives them valuable insight into the world of shopping centers and CRE that eventually will give them the advantage when they’re looking for a job.”

Several interns have returned for subsequent semesters with SREG. A number have expressed an interest in staying in the Syracuse area and wanting to continue a long-term career with the company, ultimately accepting full-time positions at SREG’s Syracuse headquarters. Additionally, program interns have successfully completed their degrees and landed positions at other distinguished CRE companies across the USA.

The Class of 2021 includes interns from California Baptist University, Bucknell University, University at Buffalo, Clemson University, Elmira College, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Southern Methodist University, Syracuse University, Penn State, University of Tampa, and Villanova University.
